In the majority of cases it is not possible to repair a torn or injured ACL. This means that the surgeons will need to RECONSTRUCT the ligament.

Over recent years at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, the surgical team have developed significant expertise in ACL reconstruction surgery. In this video Orthopaedic Consultants Nigel Rossiter, Mike Risebury and Adrian Wilson review some of the key aspects of ACL Reconstruction, including:

… how do you actually make a new ligament?
… what does ‘Anatomical’ reconstruction mean?

You can find more information in the downloadable ACL Surgery Booklet in the Resources section of the website.
