Anaesthesia Total Knee Replacement

Knee School is one of the most important stages in your journey as a patient at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Following feedback from patient groups, we noted that patients expressed how nervous they were before surgery. Therefore we decided to start a Knee School.

At Knee School you will be assessed by a Physiotherapist /Specialist Nurse and given a specific exercise plan to help strengthen the muscles that support your knee. You will also be shown how to use crutches and practise climbing stairs and you will be seen by a member of the Occupational Therapy Team who will talk to you about your home environment and order any equipment you may require to help you after discharge from hospital. They will also demonstrate the gadgets available to help you dress independently.

This video explains what happens and what you will learn at Knee School.
