Exercise & Physiotherapy Osteotomy

You should EXERCISE your knee regularly for several weeks following your Osteotomy surgery to strengthen the muscles of your leg and knee.

After your discharge from hospital you will have several appointments with the Physiotherapist. This is vital for making a good recovery and ultimately for achieving a good long-term outcome to your surgery.

Physiotherapy will continue until you have reached the required standard of movement and muscle strength.

Your physiotherapist will talk with you about the exercise regime that is appropriate to you in more detail. This video gives an overview of how Physio and Post-Op Exercise is approached at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Videos showing examples of some the exercises you will use can be found in the Exercises Playlist. These examples can also be downloaded and printed out for reference from the PDF Exercise Sheet on this page.
